Nursing Home Singapore
The Golden Years
With an increasingly aging population in Singapore of which 35% will reach the age of 65 years old by the year 2035 (as reported by statista.com) and also as singlehood becomes more common, birth rates plummet and families get fractured by death, divorce, or dispute, more people are turning to nursing home for long-term professional care for their frail, old loved ones. The demand for nursing homes for elderly care services is on an upward trend as most families with working caregivers are finding it a challenging responsibility to provide reasonable nursing care these seniors will need with activities for their daily living. These tasks can be overwhelming and demanding if family caregivers are not professionally trained to handle these daily living needs required by the seniors.
Given a choice, most senior citizen at their golden years would prefer to live with their children and grandchildren under one roof. Sometimes such an arrangement may not be viable for reasons being, the home is not large enough to accommodate extended family members, not designed to be elderly-friendly or home caregivers have daytime jobs that make it difficult to provide any nursing care for the live-in seniors.
With today's nursing home facilities, strict Ministry of Health guidelines on assisted living, professional medical care services, the perception of poor live in conditions, abusive caregivers, dormitory-style bedrooms, or overcrowded nursing home environment could soon be a thing of the past.
